Admiration for Angel

It was a no-brainer choosing Angel Delgadillo as the first dedication in my Route 66 Ranch Hotel Mystery Series. He is a humble and kind man who has never let his fame go to his head.

I have worked for Angel and his family for many years. I have also been fortunate enough to spend a lot of social time with them, even hosting Angel and Vilma for holidays and a few of Angel's birthdays, most notably his latest 99th!

At work, I have been responsible for creating and writing our newsletters, history and information for our visitors, displays for the barber shop turned museum and more. I helped organize and publish Angel's memoirs, as well as writing the  forward to the completed collection of stories in Angel's own words called The Road to Happiness: My Life On and For Route 66. I have helped in the organization and archival of his life's work and memorabilia before giving it to the Northern Arizona University for the Cline Library's Angel Delgadillo Collection.

His collection was instrumental in the making of my book "Seligman, Arizona: Birthplace of Historic Route 66"

Although, it covers a lot in between, the book basically starts and ends with Angel Delgadillo!

After nearly 15 years of spending time with Angel, I can attest that he is truly one of the most selfless and loving people this world has to offer.  It has been an honor and a pleasure to help maintain his legacy.
